Dear Calvary Members and Friends,

Daughert_An_005 copy

Welcome to the spring 2017 semester of GPS (God. People. Service.) Groups!

This CBC signature small group ministry is one of the most practical ways to connect with others, grow in faith, and feel a sense of belonging. GPS Groups give leaders and participants the time and space to focus on particular topics and personal passions or interests, to deepen relationships with God and with each other, and to have some fun within a 6-12 week, topic-based small group setting.

These registration-based, short-term small groups provide diverse opportunities for Calvary members, newcomers, and friends, to meet with 8-15 people (this sometimes varies) for approximately 6-12 ninety-minute gatherings.

Whether a longtime member, first-time guest, or a friend-of-a-friend, GPS groups offer everyone a way to connect through Calvary.

Take a look at the spring GPS offerings, pick one (or more) that fits your interest and schedule, and see what a difference it can make in your life.

Expectantly,

Andrew

Prayer and Meditation using the “Pearls of Life”

Description: Do you sometimes feel that you are stuck in your prayer or meditation life? Then this group is for you! In 1995, Martin Lönnebo, a priest in the Swedish Lutheran Church, introduced the Pearls of Life as a help for prayer. The Pearls of Life is a prayer garland with 18 different colored glass beads, each a symbol of some aspect of our life. Each one of the beads, made of glass from India, has a task to help us find the way. They signify God, I, Baptism, Love, Night etc. which are interspersed by six Silence beads.

Won’t you join us as we make our own bracelets and learn about the significance of each bead and how we can pray and meditate on these different aspects of our life?

We will meet every two weeks and talk about basic photography rules, skills and concepts. There will be a theme for that week and an assignment for our off week as a way to experience and explore Bible verses and connections. There will be an on-line Facebook page group for posting and sharing your projects and discussion around posted images. Leader: Denise Wylde is a longtime Colorado resident and lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church. I love finding new places around my beautiful state of Colorado and around the country and world to photograph and explore. I continually try to tap into my passion for life, faith, and spirituality, love for outdoors, skiing, travel, nature and unique perspective to create beautiful images. I use “found art” (ie: unwanted junk) pieces to use around the photograph such as old pieces of wood, window boxes, sheets of metal, etc to create more than just a matted and framed image but a living piece of art that enhances the expression of the image. I also like using old windows as frames for my photographs.
