Calvary COVID-19 Safety Measures

Per the public health order for Denver issued on November 23, 2021, by Mayor
Hancock, masks will be required for everyone ages 2+ at ALL indoor Calvary
events beginning, Wednesday, November 24. At this time, the order is in place
until January 3, 2022. Thank you for your compliance with this public health order as we seek to protect our congregation, the greater Denver community, and support hospitals and health care systems. If you forget your mask, please come to the church office to get a mask immediately upon entry to the building. Read More…

Update to Calvary's COVID-19 Safety Measures

The past two weeks Calvary has had additional safety measures in place because of a positive COVID-19 case at a Calvary event on Oct. 25. We are now past the exposure time frame from that event, so those additional safety measures are lifted. The choir and congregational singing will resume this Sunday, Nov. 14, as will coffee hour.

Our city and state continue to have very high numbers of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations and, as we know, breakthrough cases happen even among those who are vaccinated. So while no longer required, we do still strongly recommend that you wear a mask while at Calvary events, especially during worship or settings where you are sitting close to others for prolonged periods of time, and even in between sips of coffee during fellowship time.

A few reminders as we head into the winter months, which are also cold/flu season:
If you forget your mask while at Calvary and would like one, we always have extras available in the church office or on the round table in the narthex on Sundays.
Please place a red, yellow, or green sticker on your nametag or clothing on Sunday mornings to indicate your comfort level in interactions. Red = please keep six feet distance. Yellow = elbows only. Green = hugs/handshakes okay. Stickers are located on the round table in the narthex.
Please refrain from coming to Calvary if you are not feeling well or have any symptoms of COVID-19 or any cold or flu symptoms. You may worship with us online and you may contact a pastor if you would like to engage with a small group via zoom; many groups have this capability.
If you do test positive for COVID-19 and have been at a Calvary event in the week preceding your positive test, please notify the church office or a pastor immediately so that we can contact trace and notify Calvary members who might have been exposed as quickly as possible, and so that we can pray for you and support you as you need.
Calvary we are so grateful for your flexibility and cooperation as we all work together to keep our community as safe as possible during the pandemic. Thank you!

A Word From Your Staff - Dr. David Farwig

It has been quite a while since I’ve reached out to you in this way, Calvary. Things have shifted for me quite a bit, as you know, taking on two roles, but especially in the pandemic, leading music has taken a uniquely challenging and rewarding path. Read More…

Calvary’s Facing Racism Alum Field Trip Broadens Understanding Specific to Colorado’s History of Racism and How it Continues to Impact Current Day Injustices.

On October 24th, CBC’s Facing Racism Alumni Group carpooled to downtown Denver to visit three of many historical markers in Colorado’s history regarding racism. Thanks to technology, two of the members joined us via Zoom on Pastor Anne’s phone to come long on the tour virtually. Becky Whitaker introduced the idea to the group and organized the sites we would visit and learn from. Becky shared with the class about the Zinn Education Project (https://www.zinnedproject.org/) and compiled three locations suggested from the website for our group to research and visit. Three members of the group, Susan Wirt, Natalie Ralston, and Diana McMahan took time to research beforehand, and then present at each stop. Excerpts from their presentations are included in this summary. Read More…

Pastoral Letter From Pastor Anne:

Happy Fall Y’all!

(Yes, I’m still a Texas girl at heart even though I’ve lived in Colorado for 13 years now!)

For our fall stewardship theme, Table of Abundance, we are using a cornucopia as a visual representation of the abundance of God’s provision for us at Calvary and beyond. Each week, a member of the stewardship committee is sharing about an aspect of Calvary’s ministry and adding an item to our collective cornucopia on the Communion Table, which is the place where we remember and celebrate Christ’s abundant love and grace. These items include: Read More…

Pastoral Letter From Pastor Morgan: May You Be Well

Greetings, Calvary!
It has been back from parental leave for a month and a half and it has been a joy to be with you all again. The "again", for me, isn't only from parental leave but also from the Tuesday before Julian was born back in February 2020. I missed the closing of the church building due to being on parental leave with Julian and I missed the re-opening of the church building due to being on parental leave with Mavis. In the month and a half of being back at work, I have been learning how to work onsite as a mom, how to lead in hybrid capacities, and how to balance working from home and working at church.
