Christ’s Love Looks Like a Quilt June 18, 2026 Rev. Alice Horner Nelson (she/her) We have a couple in our congregation who is from the Ukraine. Their children and grandchildren live there and we hear lots of news of their life there: frigid temperatures in winter when there is no electricity, bombings, interrupted schooling, limited food. It's been five years of war. Our quilting group (Judy, Cindy, Linda, Vonda, Sharon and Robyn) decided to make 2 quilts for their 2 grandchildren in Ukrainian colors. Many thanks to Linda's friend Lisa for quilting on her long arm quilting machine. "The rest of us started at the end of March in figuring out the pattern, colors and assembly for this project. We all took material home (which we used blues for the 9 patch blocks from our stash in our supply cabinet). Yellow is the color of their country so we did sashing with that. Binding was different on both. Each is about the size of 53 x 66. We signed messages to the boys on some center white squares." During wartime, Christ's love looks like fabric stitched together and prayers written on squares. Thank you ladies! May these boys feel the warmth of our love with these quilts. We continue to pray for peace.
