Drag and Harpsichords - June 22 - 7pm

For perhaps the first time in history, two disparate worlds explicitly combine to create an exceptional experience.

Jerimiah Otto is both an early music expert and a talented drag makeup artist, however, this will be the first event combining these two disparate creative expressions. In its heyday, music for the harpsichord was written in a very restrained and codified style. This standard created constant desire on the part of great composers to encode subversive gestures into the otherwise very square and normative style of baroque music. The Drag performance alongside the harpsichord performance enters into a vibrating dialogue between the traditional expectations of courtly aristocratic behaviors and subversive counter-cultural expressions.

Tappin The Classics: Common Ground Tap Dance and Grand Piano - July 12 -  2pm

Dani Champagne and Justin Boccitto of the innovative professsional tap dance company "Common Ground" perform classics with Jerimiah Otto.

Franz Joseph Haydn and Anna Bon overlapped for three years as they composed keyboard sonatas and chamber music for the Esterhauzy court in Eisenstadt Germany (1762-65). The society at court was so distant geologically and artistically from the rest of continental Europe that this environment allowed for wildly creative and personal music to emerge from both Bon and Haydn. Common Ground tap dance and pianist/harpsichordist Jerimiah Otto will explore the syncopated dialogues already present in this style of piano and harpsichord sonatas. This collaboration stems from a desire to emphasise fresh and immediately moving techniques in our performances of classical music.
