With Gratitude for Luwan Jones, Church Accountant

March 3, 2026 Ru-Lee Weller Passman

After 14 years of service as Calvary’s Church Accountant, Luwan Jones is officially ending her
time serving Calvary in this capacity on or about March 31. Luwan has been a steadfast,
knowledgeable and faithful member of our staff and we will miss her expertise and experience
in non-profit accounting, as well as her humor and presence around the office.
Senior Pastor Anne Scalfaro has relied on Luwan’s guidance and mentorship in many aspects of
her own leadership:
“Luwan is faith-filled, meticulously detailed, and an invaluable part of our team. We will miss
her greatly. She has been way more than just an “accountant” for Calvary. She has created trust
with the congregation in Calvary’s finances, tended to the details of compliance, and inspired in
all of us a greater reliance on God’s provision and grace.
Personally, I am so grateful for Luwan’s service to Calvary for so many years, and her
mentorship to me as a woman of faith in leadership and non-profit business. She has taught me
anything and everything that I know about QuickBooks, Calvary’s finances and budgeting
processes, the importance of the word ‘consider,’ and many other “ins and outs” of non-profit
financial management.
Together, we have been through numerous staff changes, church leadership and bylaw changes,
insurance claims, legal matters, budget reconciliation processes, bank fraud,
technology glitches, stewardship campaigns, miracle match fundraisers, PPP loans, and
more! Together, we have been surprised by joy at the generosity of Calvary members and
challenged to work toward creative solutions when times were tight financially. More than
anything, Luwan has been a constant reminder to me of God’s great abundance—and how
when we create a budget on faith, God provides through the generosity of God’s people.
Luwan – thank you for giving your time, heart, and talent to Calvary. I am praying for you in this
transition and wishing you all the best in this new season of life. You will be dearly missed.
Remember, you always have a ‘home’ at Calvary!”

Please join us in showing Luwan appreciation for her 14 years of service as Calvary’s Accountant
by sending cards and gifts of appreciation to the church office by March 24.
We are grateful for Accounting Assistant Ye Ye Wong’s steadfast presence and continuity of
service in the Accounting department as we navigate a transition from Luwan to the new
Church Business Administrator, for which recruitment is under way. We appreciate your
prayers for that hiring process and transition! If you have any questions about this transition,
please contact Beth Dickinson, Staff Relations Deacon, or Senior Pastor Anne J. Scalfaro.
