A Reflection on World Mission Offering by Walter Rowell

I have been on several mission trips to see, and participate in, the amazingly effective work of
American Baptists. In Poland, at a community center in the midst big, ugly concrete tenements,
we entertained kids in day care. Becky Whitaker had brought headbands and feathers, and had
them whooping like Indians. In Thailand, we saw improved agricultural techniques, and a new
water supply in the middle of a small mountain town. We were welcomed into a tribal headman’s
house, with missionary Paul Lewis, who had translated the Bible into his language. In
Nicaragua where we helped build a needed school/ mission church in a remote town. And in
Arizona where we stayed in the homes of handicapped adults at Rainbow Acres. I have
memorable stories from each of these experiences, and more. Our ABC missionaries give us, and
the communities they serve, a great return on our World Mission Offering dollars.
