We Have a New Website! September 9, 2025 Rev. Alice Horner Nelson (she/her) Calvary, I am delighted to share that we have a new website! This is a project eleven months in the making. Every aspect of its design and content was pondered carefully and discussed. Tons of material from the old site was copied over, photos downloaded then re-uploaded, material taken out or enhanced. I have to thank willow carter for her immense help and career background in nonprofit educational software, human-computer interaction, and front-end and back-end experience in website maintenance and design which greatly enhanced this project, and for Morgan Fletcher who monitored the project while I was on my sabbatical. When you visit the site you may first notice the colors. In meeting with our designer who asked me to share a bit about our congregation, she commented that our old site didn’t really communicate the vibrant, warm and diverse nature of our congregation – and I had to agree with her. Our new site has a white background, our traditional Calvary blue, and three accent colors of green, magenta, and gold. This isn’t a branding re-design of ours, but rather a way to paint a picture of our warm and diverse congregation. We have a logo and brand redesign on our discernment roadmap for our future, which will be an intentional process filled with discernment about who Calvary is and who we want to be. But you will see these colors pop up in our graphics as nice accent colors to match our website. Under our Worship tab you will find our sermon gallery, where you can search sermons by year and by preacher. Under Resources you will find a General Church Calendar that lists many of our recurring events for visitors to know about. (This doesn’t replace our Church Calendar that we use – so please see Chad Lawrence or Cindy Schall to reserve on our Calendar.) We have a News section highlighting different events or storytelling pieces (like the one you're reading right now). We will have a banner on our site that appears while our worship is live - click on it and it takes you to our YouTube Livestream. Our website looks more modern and up to date with our CMS (Content Management System), and it appears more cohesive on a mobile device. And most importantly, it is a place a visitor can land and learn quite a bit about us before they make their first visit. Thank you so much for your budget dollars in making this project a reality. The first place a visitor interacts with us is often not in our building, but online. Thanks to your generosity, we can make a great first impression. Pastor Alice Tags: website, communications
