The Through Line of Goodness

November 2, 2025 — All Saints' Sunday
Rev. Anne Jernberg Scalfaro (she/her)

This Sunday is All Saints’ Sunday—a beautiful and sacred time of remembering beloved church members who have died in the past year. It is also the first week in our study on the Fruit of Goodness, which we will be exploring from a foundational and theological perspective. Genesis 1 encourages us to claim the gift of our goodness from God which is with us from the beginning. And Psalm 23 assures us that that same goodness is with us all the days of our life. Sunday’s sermon will be a celebration of the goodness we experienced in the lives of our beloved Calvary saints, and a reminder for us to hold fast to the promise of God’s goodness that stays with us our whole lives, here and in the hereafter. And, because it’s also the first week in our Stewardship emphasis, For Goodness’ Sake—as we look toward making financial commitments for the coming year, it’s good to be reminded that everything good that we experience at Calvary, begins with our goodness from God!

Scripture: Genesis 1:26-31; Psalm 23
