On Sunday, June 28, Calvary Baptist Church will welcome the Broadway Baptist Chapel Choir of Fort Worth, Texas as guest musicians for morning worship and for a special afternoon concert at 3:00 p.m.

The Broadway Baptist Chapel Choir is a dynamic ensemble of approximately 40 students in grades 7–12. Since 2022, Chapel Choir has presented a full concert at the United Nations, sung the National Anthem before a New York Mets game, performed a full concert at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City, offered music at sunset overlooking the Grand Canyon, and sung at Denver’s Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. These experiences have given students unique opportunities to share their gifts in some of the nation’s most significant cultural, civic, and sacred spaces. Under the direction of Rev. Emily Maples, who has directed Chapel Choir since 2018, and accompanied by Thomas Woods, the choir presents a vibrant program of sacred and secular music that reflects both musical excellence and the faith journeys of its members. The afternoon concert will feature a wide variety of musical styles and genres, including choral selections, small ensembles, student solos, and student testimonies and reflections. From moments of joy and laughter to moments of inspiration and reflection, the program offers something for listeners of every age. More than a performance, the concert celebrates the community that develops when young people grow together and with God through worship, service, and song.

This year’s tour theme, Crowded Table, is inspired by Isaiah 25 and celebrates the belief that God’s welcome is expansive, that "everyone is still becoming, and everyone belongs." For Emily, this year’s tour represents a remarkable full-circle moment. She sang in Chapel Choir as a teenager during the 1990s and now directs the ensemble. This summer, her daughter Abbey, a rising senior, is singing in the choir. The tour also reflects the lasting impact of Broadway’s youth music ministry across generations, as Pastor of Adult and Family Ministries, Jennifer Baergen Davis leads on the tour and her son, too, is a rising senior in the choir. Additionally, two former Chapel Choir members now travel alongside their own daughters who are current members of the ensemble. Whether you join us for worship, the afternoon concert, or both, we invite you to experience the joy, energy, and inspiration of these remarkable young musicians. All are invited to join us for morning worship and to return at 3:00 p.m. for this special FREE concert presentation.
