Volunteer Opportunity - Read With Third Graders Every Week!

Service Opportunity: 6 More Volunteers Needed to
Read with Third Graders Every Other Week. Calvary
and New Hope are renewing our partnership again this year to read with third graders this year at Stedman
Elementary (2940 Dexter St, Denver, CO 80207). This is an opportunity for Calvary members and New Hope
members to build relationships as we seek to be a part of the work of racial reconciliation in Denver through
engagement with our community.
• Because of the success of this program last year, Stedman is inviting us to read with two 3rd grade
classrooms this year, for a total of 30 students. We need about 15 volunteers from each church, and so far
Calvary has 9 volunteers.
• Each volunteer is paired with a child and reads with them for about 45 minutes.
• The program will tentatively begin Friday, October 11 and will run EVERY OTHER FRIDAY from 9:30
a.m.-10:30 a.m.
• No special skills needed; training is provided for new volunteers.
• New component this year: Once a month, Calvary and New Hope volunteers will be invited to stay for a
time of refreshments and connection following the reading hour so that we can build relationships with one
another.

We Need Peanut Butter!
Peanut Butter! We need peanut butter! Bootstraps and Blessings supplies are dwindling due to high demand by our clients. If you could pick up two or three 10 or 12 oz jar of peanut butter, crunchy or creamy, while shopping, we appreciate it. Please drop in the shopping cart in the coat room. We also need granola bars, Ritz crackers, water and Capri Suns. We are having an increase in need for our food bags and welcome these donations weekly or monthly, as you are able.
