Support Bootstraps & Blessings by Shopping at King Soopers or Safeway

Bootstraps and Blessings just received the first quarterly statement from the new Community Rewards program sponsored by King Soopers.  We earned $1,283.05 for the second quarter of 2019 thanks to 51 households buying groceries at King Soopers. This helps fund our program and buys RTD passes and King Soopers cards for our clients.

The number of clients served YTD (year to date) in 2019 is 261 clients with a total of 1,464 visits YTD.  In 2018, the number of total visits was 1470, so our numbers have doubled in a year.

If you haven't linked your King Soopers Card with Cavalry/Bootstraps, you can call 800-847-0683 and tell them you want to link with JD738. If you shop at Safeway, please also see Pat Hagen (pwescotthagen@comcast.net) to see how you can get a reuseable grocery card that benefits Calvary. Thank you all for your support and volunteering. Read More…

Calvary Art Ministry Schedule

The Calvary Art Show Ministry is planning new exhibitions to take place during the last few months of 2019 and the first few months of 2020. We have decided to do some summer vacationing, and we will not have exhibitions for the months of June or July. Our August exhibition will feature the work of two Calvary artists -- Calligraphy and Needlepoint by Drema Doolittle, and Photography by Denise Wylde.
Beginning in September, we will resume our standard art show routine. Our plan is to feature themes, various media, and various artists alternately throughout the year. Here is how our schedule is tentatively shaping up for the fall and winter…
September:  Mandalas (also featuring artwork by Vacation Bible School kids)
October:  Artwork of animals
November:  Great Outdoors
December:  Advent/Christmas
January 2020:  Journaling/Sketching
February 2020:  Artwork by People of Color
March 2020:  People; Places
Please share this information with anyone you think may be interested in participating in any or all of these exhibitions.
Our primary method of communication is e-mail, and we would like to keep our database of interested artists up-to-date. So if you are interested and are not already receiving our e-mails, or know someone who may be interested and would like to receive our e-mail updates, please send your e-mail address to:
Larry Jenks   larry@jnxgroup.com
Brenda Goodman    brenjgoody@gmail.com
Angela Leonard    aleonard@calvarydenver.org
If you are, or you know of someone who may be interested but does not use or like e-mail, please put a note with your name, mailing address, and phone number in the Calvary mailbox of any of the three of us shown above.
Many thanks to all, and a special thanks to everyone who has participated or will participate in this important ministry. Read More…

Help Loretta Howe Raise Money for Alzheimers!

Loretta Howe (Carol Howe's daughter) is running the New York City Marathon for the Alzheimer's Association on November 3rd. She writes: "Currently, more than 50 million people worldwide are living with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. In America alone, 5 million have Alzheimer's disease and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk and we must come together to change the course of this disease.
Please support my efforts by making a donation. All funds raised benefit the Alzheimer's Association and its work to enhance care and support programs and advance research toward methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's disease."

You can click on this link to donate. She has already reached 57% of her donation goal- let's help her reach 100%! Read More…
